Pictures of Early Spring Blooms

Sharing a few signs of early spring.

When temperatures drop below the freezing point of water (32° F or 0° C) water inside a plant freezes, it can cause the plant cells to burst, resulting in irreparable damage. For us to protect these early buds, covering them with towels and sheets when the sun goes down has become a routine. You can also use an inverted bucket, a flower pot, or a layer of mulch.

Tarragon, Basil, and Parsley.

Tarragon is used in many classic French sauces including: bearnaise, hollandaise, tartar and bechamel. It is a wonderful fish herb for sole, shrimp and also for chicken, veal, and tuna salad.

Parsley is used In Middle Eastern salads; with basil, to make pesto; add to soups, stews, sauces, meatballs, fishcakes, burgers, salsas and marinades.
Basil can add a kick of flavor to many dishes. Of course in pasta sauce, and on pizza. Pairs great with tomatoes, onions and garlic. Add to vegetable soups. Infuse your favorite olive oil with basil. It only takes a few minutes!
