Resilience

In our pursuit of happiness, throughout our lives,  we face many ups and downs.  We experience joy and God forbid misery.  As we go through turbulent times, what keeps us buoyant is, our traits and virtues.  Among all virtues, resiliency gives us the ability to bounce back.  We can naturally be resilient, but what if we learn to be more resilient and develop habits and life practices that not only help us to survive but to come back stronger and better than before.  Maybe the essence of happiness is to be more resilient because unlike a simple, fairy tale like happiness, resiliency takes into the account the certainty of tough times and gives us the strength to endure and recover.

We are thinking of all the people who are facing hurricane Irma and recovering from Harvey. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.  We wish them resiliency.

Decorating ideas picked up from nature

We all know it is healthy for everyone in the family to go for walks, and enjoy this early cool weather. Most of the time with our family it is too hard to keep everyone interested for the entire walk, so we look for flowers to pick or acorns to collect. And there is no competing!! Just what ever we can, and how many we can pack in our pockets or fill our hats with.
This morning after our walk we washed and dried all the acorns we had collected and did our own decorating around the house. Enjoy your next family walk.

1- acorns filling up a blue vase.

2- acorns as vase fillers to keep our arrangement together.

3- acorns in a handmade bowl on a bookcase next to family pictures.

4- acorns adding a fallish look to our dinning room candle holder.

5- acorns with fresh fruits on our breakfast table.

Royal Doulton Barber & Osgerby Olio

This collection is not only beautiful but it is a tactile play on your senses. The upper surface of plates and mug are smooth and have a glazed finish but the bottom part is unglazed and feels like unfinished pottery.

A note about the designers:

Internationally acclaimed designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby founded their London-based studio in 1996. Their diverse body of work spans industrial design, furniture, lighting and site specific installations as well as limited edition pieces and public commissions such as the London 2012 Olympic Torch and a £2 coin designed for the Royal Mint.

Their work is held in permanent museum collections around the world including V&A and Design Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Art Institute of Chicago.

In 2001 Barber and Osgerby established architecture and interior design practice Universal Design Studio and in 2012 they founded MAP, specializing in research and strategy-led design.

They bring a deep understanding and respect for British craft to their work with Royal Doulton, and wealth of experience. Their multidisciplinary portfolio, spanning furniture, architecture and industrial design, echoes Royal Doulton’s vision to create collections combining both intelligence and function, making it the perfect partnership.

Santa Fe NM Farmer’s Market

One of our favorite places in the word has one of the most interesting farmer’s markets we have ever been to! 130 local farmers and producers from 15 Northern New Mexico counties make up the busy all year long Saturday market & the out doors market , which normally runs through September. And if you are visiting early Fall you can smell the aroma of green chile roasting all over The market.

many of the growers are Certified Organic, or Certified Naturally Grown, and they post their Certificates or Crop Lists.

Inside the Farmer’s Market Pavilllion is the  Railyard Artisan Market, with local New Mexico’s artists, craftspeople, and musicians.

Before any shopping, first stop by the famous restaurant/ bakery “chocolate Maven’s ” table and get yourself a delicious pastry, with a cup of coffee.
