Our family loves pasta. But to keep in mind a balance healthy diet once or twice a week we combine it with other meat or fish dishes.

Orzo with red bell pepper & cauliflower with eggs. Serve it warm or cold. We made a simple balsamic olive oil and black olive dressing to go with our orzo, and Parmesan cheese. You can use mozzarella or other favorite cheeses.

 

It is simple and delicious, and it really is a great meal that tastes better as leftovers. We served it with chicken, but you can have it as is as a vegetarian meal.

Ingredients:

orzo, diced red pepper, diced onions, diced black olives.

cauliflower with eggs sautéed.

One sure way to set our bedroom for a solid sleep is to pay attention to how we have placed the furniture in the bedroom.

1- your head should be near a solid wall. Using a wood headboard or solid upholstered headboard.

 

2- Avoid these colors: reds, purples, blues, and black.

3- No mirrors, which would be difficult to do,  but mirrors make the energies of the bedroom very active, or yang. keep it to one only, and don’t hang it on the wall near the foot of your bed.

4- Try not to have a TV or any electronic devices in the bedroom.

Red mulberries – the fruit, like grapes, is red or white and grows in bunches called “drupes.”

Add this delicious small fruit to your trail mix. You can buy them easily On line anywhere. This small sweet delicious fruit is not very well know for its nutritional value, since the fresh fruit itself is almost impossible to buy fully ripped. But don’t give up on it’s delicious special sweetness. Keep them in a glass jar on your kitchen counter, and add it to your salad, yogurt, or just enjoy it with your morning coffee.

Yes, cold icy roads and school is out we are stuck indoors with kids, that would love nothing more than more time staring at their iPads, and snack-on till bed time.

Nothing will make the brain function better than the good old blood circulation through our veins, so make it a game and bring the dumbbells ( water bottles ) out.

there are many indoor activities that can be fun and easy to do with some music & good company.

Hot drinks for a bad cold

Hot water, lemon & honey

Remember these ingredients add them to a cup of hot water or cider as soon as you feel symptoms of a cold.

Lemon juice

orange juice

turmeric

ginger

honey

Turmeric  milk recipe 😦 one of our favorite drinks)

1 cup milk (cow, almond, coconut, rice, hemp, soy are all fine as long as they have some fat)

1 tsp Turmeric

1 Tbsp raw wild honey

½ tsp Cinnamon

black pepper, a pinch

1. Heat up your milk in the microwave or on the stove.

2. Add turmeric and whisk to combine.

3. Stir in honey and cinnamon and mix well.

4. Add a pinch of black pepper and stir.

How does Fasting work?

We hear from friends and coworkers that fasting is their choice of regulating their weight during this time of the year.

Does it really work or is it healthy it all depends on how fasting is done!!

When we consume Carbs, sugar and refined grains, they quickly break down into sugar, which our cells use for energy. If we are not active we store it in our fat cells as fat. But sugar can only enter our cells with insulin, a hormone made in the pancreas. Insulin brings sugar into the fat cells and keeps it there. If we don’t eat between meals our insulin level goes down and fat cells release sugar stored so we can move around and be active.

When we fast our insulin levels go down far enough and for long enough that we burn off our fat.

Studies show when we stop eating during the day is a key on losing weight. Eating between 7am to 3 pm, or 10am to 6 pm, and avoiding any snacking between meals      is the smart way to regulate our weight .
