Not giving up on lavender plants🪴

One of the main rules of gardening is to know your zone for planting. Meaning, you won’t waste your money and hard physical work of digging, planting, fertilizing for the wrong plant. Sometimes as most of you might know a perennial plant such as lavenders might not survive the winter freeze and become an annual.

This is my dilemma with lavender plants. They need more attention and no additional watering since we already have too much rain, but when they finally spread their roots and get situated they are beautiful and full of buds the entire summer season. One of my absolute favorite plants, and I take every advantage when they bloom. I take videos, photos and collect lavender buds in sachets for my dresser drawers, also gifts to my family members. I love their color, shape and their heavenly clean, calming scent.

This year I decided to plant a circle of lavender plants around a bird bath close to my other gardens. Creating a focal point and a more designated area that I can pay more attention to and protect in winter time. So this past weekend I found a beautiful bird bath, and I am starting plans to remove the grass and creat a round garden.

In few days another trip to the garden center to purchase lavender plants. I am thinking a hardier variety called “Lavender Phenomenal”. Stay tuned🌸👍
It is Almost spring, somewhere !🌷

This time of the year, I feel exhausted by putting on, more winter cloths than my own body weight. I literally miss seeing my skin, and crave for the feel of the warm sun on my face. Colors are rare in nature this time of the year too. I hopelessly get used to the brown grass, and the bare silhouette of giant oak trees. Bare, and cold without any leaves or song birds perched on their heavy branches.
Seeing spring flowers at the market always brings a smile to my face. Daffodils, and pots of fragrant hyacinth flowers announce the almost end of winter season, no matter how hard it tries to hang its heavy clouds over our heads. Some where, in some warm sunny place these spring messengers are out of the ground and announcing the arrival of the spring season.
A few days ago, when grocery shopping, I grabbed a few daffodils and brought them home, and gave them their own perching place by the front room. Letting every one enjoy their beautiful colors, and their delicate petals, as they walk in & out of our house. I know some of us will spend the next two months in snow and below zero temperatures, but there is hope. For now, when you are out grocery shopping pick up some daffodils.

Looking for a gift?🥰

I know we just left the holiday season behind, but Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite days to give & receive gifts. Of course chocolate and flowers are the most appropriate, and common gifts, but for a special person I also consider perfumes or colognes.
I think flowers are appropriate for any occasion as a gift. It doesn’t matter what age or gender, happy or sad occasion, flowers are neutral, and thoughtful. It is a fact that Scents can have an effect on how we feel and think, and a wonderful familiar scent can bring us joy, help us relax, and helps us with feeling anxious.
A bottle of perfume or eau de toilette carefully researched and purchased for a special person can be a thoughtful gift. A gift that they will always remember you by.
