Euphorbia pulcherrima, with more than 100 varieties it gets its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant to US in 1825. We also found out poinsettia leaves can come in orange, pale green, cream, pink, white, or even marble colors.
They are beautiful around the house as extra red and green to add to the festive holiday decorations, and also a nice hostess gift.

We love baking ginger bread cookies after thanksgiving, and taking them to our friends. A day late, and our friends ask for them. And it is a great way to keep kids busy when they are not playing outside. We use Martha Stewart’s recipe for our cookies.
Wrapped up in a clear cellophane wrap with a bow, we take them to neighbors, friends, teachers, and school crossing guards.
