This is a fun project that my family actually loves to work on without complaining. It is part of setting our table for our family before sitting down to give thanks for all the wonderful goodness around us.
This year we are setting a smaller table, but the work is still there, and we need place cards to be clear who is sitting where. Yes for the three of us !! Our fun project started with gathering our supplies. We get creative and try to be colorful, interesting, and unique.

This mess free DIY fall center piece is easy, fun and inquires a walk outdoors among the pine and oak trees.
If you ever look for an excuse to enjoy the early fall, take a leisurely walk to collect your supplies to create a very beautiful useful natural center piece. It would be a great reason to spend time outside with your family and get everyone’s creative suggestions to put together several centerpieces for any room in your home.
I used to remember specifically assigning a week night for dinner with my family. Searching for the day that no one missed dinner because of a late meeting, softball practice, or travel plans. We sat around the dinner table and enjoyed nice meal as a family.
Well I know I won’t shock anyone by writing, that since the pandemic, we have been having dinners together as a family for over four months now. We cook, set the table, eat, cleanup, and spread around the house relaxing before we go to bed.
We now enjoy a routine that felt as if it was forced on all of us. Not having the freedom of mind to be some where else, our home more than ever has become a safe place that we see and hear each other, doing things that keep us entertained and comfortable.
We are watching movies from 1930s and search google to learn more about the actors we just watched. Our conversations vary from what we have read, or heard from friends, reminiscing about past summer vacations, and future plans for traveling. History pops up more than ever! Our political history, changes our grandparents lived through, and our hope and conversations for changes that our future would benefit from.
Our home has changed to accommodate all of our needs. Where we read, watch tv, listen to podcasts. We have found and created spaces to relax, and not be distracted by others. This was an important realization. To have our own quiet spaces to go to, and come back together when we want to. Hoping we are learning from our new normal, and keeping each other happy.

It is not easy to keep our high traffic rooms at our home clean, and organized. Our kitchen, living room, bathrooms can look rundown and dull, even if they are cleaned and put together at the end of each day. Our home sometimes needs a fresh look, or a touch of color.
Adding a tray or a platter with colorful rocks, and sea shells can help you put together an interesting accent piece for color and a fresh look. If it is the play room and your kids can help you create an accent piece or a tray with candles, to help you relax in a cozy corner with a good book.

Herbs have a wonderful fragrant, and add so much flavor to any food. I have used herb plants as center pieces for many years, and this year offered them as gifts to our thanksgiving guests.
Rosemary and thyme plants are two of my favorites, and have a beautiful flowing shape. To cover the pots first wrap them with colorful gift wraps, and add ribbons and ornaments for more color and shine.
A great way to creat an interesting wall. Made of paper, these wall tapestries have beautiful colors, and a natural relaxing look. They make any wall beautiful, and any room cozy and inviting.
With colors, textures, and living plants we can create a living area that we can enjoy spending time with our family.
Knitted, textured pillows, warm woods in the side table and mirror, and a fluffy rug in warm colors like gold, chestnut, soft greys, and browns create an inviting, warm, relaxing surroundings. Stacks of books and magazines are a good addition to bare corners.
Curved lines and a central point in a room is also a key. Pull your furniture to the middle of the room away from walls, and make sure you have comfortable furniture so every piece is liked, and is being used. Make sure TV is not the focal point in the room. Your goal is to have everyone reading, talking, and enjoying themselves.
