We love being around the beach, and we know getting there might take some planning, but turning our living space into a beach bungalow is easily done.

And of course need to look like we are on the beach

You have probably seen these fire pits in back yards on the porch in the Camp grounds and by the pool. They are a great addition and can be more practical than you think. Relaxing around a fire pit with friends and family, making s’mores, and if burning wood, the aromatic firewoods such as:
Apple, cherry, pear walnut and some evergreens like balsam fir would be heavenly.

Two winters ago the confederate jasmine that cascaded over the wooden fence couldn’t take the freeze and died away. This spring we are filling the open space with an old piece of wrought iron gate and flower pots.
This was an easy project, just used five small pots, potting mix, vine rope and marigolds.

When watering we found out holding the pots up helps water to flow all the way to the bottom of the pot.

With indoor fountains, that look nice, and sound so relaxing.
Being around water makes us calmer and more creative. The way water and sound interact it creates mental tranquility. The meditation state the sound of water creates helps us to relax and daydream. This is the moment we become creative by letting our mind to wonder.

It adds color and warmth to rooms; it also is very versatile decorating since the greenery can be changed through out the year.

We can bring early spring indoors, by cutting a few branches of trees and shrubs, and have them bloom early indoors.
Here is what to look for:
Azalea, beauty bush, crab apple, flowering quince, magnolia, pussy willow, redbud , serviceberry, witch hazel, forsythia, rhododendron, spirea, and fruit trees : cherries, pears, and apples.

If you can cut the branches in a warm day look for swollen, plump buds. Cut branches at an angle and be sure you cut them long enough to stand out in your container. To get water quickly to branches smashing the bottoms of your branches gently, will make it easier for the branches to take up water. For these young buds to go through the transition place your container away from sunlight, in a cool location.
Whitin 1 – 6 weeks you should see the buds swell and begin to open, and ready to be placed in sunlight.

It might not have a practical use, but the piece stands out because it complements a room’s decor, and gets your attention by creating excitement and not blending into the background.
What is considered an accent piece:
A chair with color and fabric that presents your style, lamps, large paintings, mirrors, chests, planters, multi size wall decors, baskets, ottomans, and trunks.
Small accent pieces add interest to your room. Choose pillows, bookends, vases and candles.

Small accent pieces can add color and texture to any room:

They can be mixed in with flowers or different varieties arranged in one planter or vase. Herbs like fern leaf dill, french lavender, and marjoram are great additions to flower arrangements because of their color and beautiful texture.

The best reason for adding herbs to an arrangements is the fact that you can freeze and use your herbs when you are preparing a meal.
