Storing sweaters

I am putting away my sweaters, and if we have another cold front coming through I am planning to wrap a dawn comforter around myself. I need the space and sweaters take too much room in my closet.
As you know with natural fibers, cashmere and wool, folding is better than hanging. Sweaters keep their shape better and seams don’t come apart when they are folded. Even more so with hand knit sweaters. To keep sweaters in perfect condition you need a dry space with a good air circulation, that way any bugs interested in spending a nice warm summer in your closet, they won’t think twice about cozying up to your beautiful cashmere and wool sweaters.
I have a system that has worked for me for years, and every fall when I look forward to putting my sweaters back on a shelf in my closet, I am always happy to see find them in a great condition. To store them I use a 100% cotton, queen or king size pillow case, and before storing them I wash my sweaters in cold water, and completely dry them.

Your Own Style 😎

I pay attention to details, and respect any one that takes the time to create details in anything and everything. Small accent pieces in decorating, small plants tucked in large flower pots for color and texture, small images of birds, and trees in a painting, and small accessories added to the everyday wardrobe.
I contribute the importance of details, to the fact that they create a distinct look, a look apart from all the other homogenized, and pre packaged things! Details create a unique style, a unique look, created by subtle difference that we can call our own style.
To think of adding details such as accessories to everyday wardrobe is not a difficult task, but adding a belt, a scarf, a pair of gloves might require, a very organized closet, more time to plan, and more time to get dressed. The final look when all put together, ready for the day, is a unique style created by unique style by adding accessories for more color, layers, and texture.
I have put together a video on different stylish, and practical ways we can add scarfs to our everyday wardrobe. I hope you enjoy the video, and also subscribe to our YouTube channel. Thank you so much☺️
Need a place to write🤔
I have been trying to create a quiet corner to write & read, but I constantly got distracted. The fact that I get pulled to many directions, and not the one I wanted to go, was finally too much. So a cloudy cold day pushed me to stop, plan, and take action. 🤣
It is one of my most favorite hobbies around the house, to refigure a room, and move all the furniture around. The fact that we are all stuck under one roof 24/7 had made it even more urgent to create corners, and spaces in my house to help everyone enjoy privacy and quiet spaces. The need to think, work, and work on school projects was urgent. The goal of this project was to be peaceful in a space at home without getting interrupted, and yes making this space look good too. To start my writing and thinking space I chose my bedroom, and a view by the window. Pulled a round table from another room, which opened more space for running around for my child when off zoom, and pulled a lamp from my guest room.
Let me tell you I am very happy with how it all came together, and having a place with all my favorite journals and writing notes just makes me happy, and at peace. You can watch me putting together my peaceful space step by step. Just go to our YouTube channel or click on the link.
I hope you already have a quiet, peaceful place to catch your breath, and enjoy a moment thinking, and writing, and reading 😌

Pantry Must Haves🥫
We usually think of our pantry as the place we store what we need for cooking on daily bases. I have come to realize these days, that my pantry should have everything I need to make meals for not just weeks but maybe months.
Believe me I don’t own a large pantry, so no room for a large varieties of food, but I have learned how to make meals that share the same basic ingredients. And with few more from the freezer, voila I have put together a nice meal.
To create a nice meal has always been important to me. I grew up in a household that eating healthy, and eating delicious meals took an entire day to prepare. Chopping vegetables, marinating the meat, making sauces, all were an important component of creating a delicious food, and setting a beautiful table.
So to keep stress out of my life I have grouped my basic pantry items in 4 categories:
1- cooking
2- baking
3- snacking
4- breakfast
Always store Salt, peppers, spices, cooking oils in large quantities since they are used in daily cooking. Canned sauces, and tomatoes, canned vegetables, soups, tuna, pickles, olives, and pastas are another must haves, with long expiration dates that are easy to buy for storing.

Take advantage of end of season sales for baking, canned vegetables, and pastas. And remember you can store most ingredients like butter, cooked pastas, cooked rice, and breads, for few weeks in your freezer.

Summer plans !🤔
For most of us summer has started and we are worried and concern about flying and staying in hotel rooms.
As I talk to friends I hear the same concerns and fears related to traveling, interacting with others at the airport, hotels, and beaches. Plans to the beach, softball games, ice skating with friends all activities that would have been planned for summer are on hold indefinitely.
How to entertain ourselves without using electronics? For the time being we are making a list of our most favorite activities, and anything new we like to learn and experience for the first time. We also have a list for things we enjoy doing that are more entertaining and keeps us in touch with classmates, and family members.
Here are 10 items on the list for our teens (created by them):
1- learn to do laundry
2- learn to iron
3- learn to chop vegetables
4- learn a new language
5- practice music
6- yoga
7- workout
9- try cooking new recipes
10- gardening
Hope everyone enjoys a healthy happy summer😎
Staying entertained at Home
I know every entertainment idea is not a good idea for all of us, but a few can make us all busy and happy at the same time.
Here are a few fun ones :

Watching Movies🎟💽
Exercising🧘♂️🤸♂️
Gardening ( cleaning the yard )🌷
Quiet time🤫
Time on social media🤪
By now we are all aware of the fact that being cut off from all social interactions is necessary in order to stay healthy. The fact that Corona virus can seriously harm people with health issues and the elderly, is a very frightening fact. Every time I hear the number of corona virus victims I am deeply sad for all involved.
Helping others to keep their positive attitude helps us too. Checking on our elderly relatives, and neighbors, and reminding ourselves this is not forever.
Tidying up
Something about the end of summer, and kids going back to school that cranks up our enthusiasm in organizing, and cleaning up our house.
Linen closet, closets, kitchen pantry, kitchen cabinets, book shelves, the garage…..
It all starts when we start going through all the paper, art work, school projects, summer camp crafts, that we have collected for months and they have no longer a shelf space to live on.
Updating Our homes for 2019

Botanical patterns and nature-inspired prints. Also tropical leaf motifs, digital florals with soft watercolor accents with a more abstract, and artistic look. It is a cool and fresh lively collection of patterns perfect for living rooms and high traffic rooms.
Furniture such as end tables :
In geometric shapes: ovals, squares, rectangles and triangles, as well as hexagons and octagons shapes.
curved furniture, from the Art Deco era, and from’ 70s. Pieces with soft corners, rounded edges.
Also Stay organized gives importance to furniture with more than one purpose. Looks & functionality.
It is a fact that rooms with bright light, both natural and artificial, can improve depression and anxiety. Surrounding our living space with objects we care and enjoy is an important part of making a home a place we enjoy to live in.
Tips for cleaning
We started our new year with decluttrring and organizing, and in the process we learned a few good tips for cleaning.
Laundry
For those impossible stains from butter, salad dressing, cooking oil, use white chalk or corn starch on the spot. Let it absorb the oil and launder as usual.
Bathroom
Remove stubborn stains around the faucet with vinegar. Soak paper towel or cloth in vinegar and wrap it around the stained faucet. Let it stand for several hours and rinse. Or with a tooth brush use a paste of vinegar and baking soda around the faucet.
Smelly helmets
Place it in a large ziplock bag and leave it in the freezer. The subzero temperature will kill the bacteria causing the smell.
Table linens with candle wax
place them in the freezer, when the wax spot gets hard just scrape it off.
Musty smell
Leave a box of open baking soda in the linen closet.
