Giving up to sweatpants !🤣

Staying home hasn’t been that stressful, what is stressful for me is keeping my family happy, healthy, focus on school work, and following a workout schedule.

Since quarantine started, we have also let go of our many daily routines. Getting up at a certain time, shaving, wearing makeup, putting on clothes, socks, grabbing our to go coffee mug.

To stay happy surrounded by our children and whoever we had to be quarantine with is more work than we are used to.

We are realizing now that Cleaning, cooking, entertaining, educating, is more work and planning than we have ever done in the past and is simply exhausting, but also very necessary.

For me making a large bowl of pasta, baking double chocolate brownies, gardening, going on long walks, watching a movie, wearing sweatpants all day long is what I need to do to stay, stress free, hopeful and happy surrounded with family. What I see for now as simply necessary.

Do I still buy my Chanel Rouge Coco?💄😷

With high unemployment and the fear of recession in the horizon, we are more aware of each item on the shopping list and purchasing any luxury item is postponed for later time in the future.

As consumers any somber news about our economy directly effects our plans for purchasing a house,a new car, or our future plans to travel.

When we faced the 2008 recession, our economy suffered record declines in sales, except for the cosmetic industry that enjoyed a 5.3% rise.

The truth is when we know spending our money on luxury items during a recession is a mistake, we turn to small luxury items that immediately help us feel, and look our best. Holding a shinny lipstick in the palm of our hand, puts a smile on our face, and a beautiful shade on our lips.

Now that we are facing another recession, because of covid-19 keeping ourselves and our love ones healthy is our main concern. Wearing a mask to stop transmission of the virus is necessary and most businesses require wearing it. This worries me, since our chance of enjoying the purchase of lipstick now becomes senseless!

Just a few days ago before leaving my car to head to the grocery store as usual I checked my make up and put on some lipstick, and right after that I pulled my mask over my mouth. Just then I realized who is going to see my face & notice my new shade of rouge coco on my masked face ?

Don’t get me wrong wearing makeup is my choice, since I like to feel looking my best at any time, but to realize wearing makeup is not necessary when out and about is depressing.

What else masks are hiding ? Smiles!!! Again as I was busy with my stressing to keep distancing and going the right direction in the grocery aisle, I was smiling to fellow shoppers and employees, but soon realized my smile was masked and my voice was muffled.

We should wear masks to keep everyone safe, but we seriously need to come up with a hand signal to tell others we are sending them a smile!!🖖

Enjoying Spring🌷

It is still spring, and most of us up to now have enjoyed pleasant weather.

This weekend we are worried about tornadoes and severe rain, but having to stay home & staying in touch with the news & being more aware, hopefully more of us will spend this weekend in the safety of our homes. Easter celebrations was less entertaining & more of a reminder of how much the world around us has come to a slow crawl.

Heavy rain kept us inside, so we didn’t see the Easter bunny. But the sweet bunny left us a beautiful basket filled with everyone’s favorite candy. Our lunch with the family and grandparents was less formal, and we had everyone on face time instead of having everyone over at our house for Easter celebrations.

We managed to take more photos of spring blooms, before they are blown away by heavy rain, and know next year our photos will have our grandparents with us, eating, laughing, and sitting next to each other.🌞

Learned a great lesson !

A bouquet of herbs from our porch garden
Quiet corners to relax
Everybody helped with this delicious mega nacho dish

I am sure we all have heard it, “everything in moderation” . There should be a balance with everything we do. Eat, exercise, social media, travel, and many other things we think of when treating ourselves. Too much of one thing, we are off balance.

Considering what our world is going through some activities are difficult to plan, when we are aware of the hardship, people around us are going through.

Call it guilt, but to feel happy and satisfied just doesn’t feel right. I believe we need balance in our world in order to enjoy a good movie, a good hardy laugh, or a great hug.

If there is one important lesson in this difficult time to learn, and later teach our children is to be happy with every small thing around us. Turning our home to our sanctuary, cooking a great meal with our family, plant some herbs, go for walks.

Face time, zoom, sharing photos is fine for now, they allow us to share our time at home with our friends, and family. We are staying in touch with our grandparents, help with home work, take flowers or herbs from our garden to neighbors & send thoughtful messages to our friends via email. It is our way to make others happy, and make our days special and productive.

We all must Stay positive, stay at home and healthy, until things are back to normal.

Spring is here🌷

Most of us are having a difficult time leaving our homes to see the arrival of this early spring season.

In the south where cherry blossoms have their own festival, trees have quietly bloomed and have not been fazed with the current state of time.

We hope you are staying healthy, and hopeful that everything will be back to normal soon🌞

Hope our spring photos put a smile on your face 🌷

Staying entertained at Home

Homemade pizza, making the dough was great fun

I know every entertainment idea is not a good idea for all of us, but a few can make us all busy and happy at the same time.

Here are a few fun ones :

Cooking & Baking🥖🍳🍝

Cleaning🧼🧽🧹

Organizing🧺🗂

Watching Movies🎟💽

Exercising🧘‍♂️🤸‍♂️

Gardening ( cleaning the yard )🌷

Quiet time🤫

Time on social media🤪

By now we are all aware of the fact that being cut off from all social interactions is necessary in order to stay healthy. The fact that Corona virus can seriously harm people with health issues and the elderly, is a very frightening fact. Every time I hear the number of corona virus victims I am deeply sad for all involved.

Helping others to keep their positive attitude helps us too. Checking on our elderly relatives, and neighbors, and reminding ourselves this is not forever.

Didn’t want go to store for burger buns, so we baked some

Unexpected Snow

Daffodils

Every year it only takes a few sunny days in mid forties to encourage the daffodils, hyacinths and other spring bulbs to sprout and show off their blooms unexpectedly. Since we all expect this unusual change in temperature in late winter, to save the blooms from the freeze we have to cover them with fabric and towels. This morning we all woke up to a beautiful steady snow shower that covered our spring blooms and reminded us that winter is still here and spring has to wait it’s turn.
