We call a vacation successful when everyone from the youngest to the more mature admit they had a great time. When your family is still young decision making is much easier. Where to go, when to eat, what to do for fun, are all planned by mom and dad.

But as everyone gets older, not only what is fun becomes a personal issue for each member of the family, when to eat, what to eat, where to go, they are become moments of  let’s have a family meeting.

For now we call a vacation successful when we arrive and leave with no surprises, we make no trips to the urgent care, and moments of small meaningful conversations with our family easily happen without planning.

Walks on the beach, to collect shells has always been a fun activity. Through the years we have collected many from every trip to a beach. Every summer we bring them all together on a large platter. As we line them up next to each other we are always surprise the memories they hold for all of us. We talk about who and where we found them, remembering how excited we were finding a perfect one.

Steps to take when your purse or wallet are stolen🙁

Our car was broken into & of course the only item gone was the purse. So for the past two days we have been busy getting a driver license, credit cards, insurance cards, and taking the right steps to secure our identity.

our very first steps were:

Step 1- canceling credit cards

Step 2- calling the police so they can issue a report

Step 3- calling the US post office to alert them in case anyone tries to change our  address.

Step 4- placing a security alert on our identity by calling:

They also alert Equifax & Transunion

Thieves are extremely knowledgeable these days and go to extreme measures to use your credit cards. While talking to the police officer we received a call from the purse thief, disguised as someone from our credit card co.

The person on the line told us our credit cards were being used and wanted to make sure the activity was normal, and if not he could cancel the cards & asked for our pin #.

Doubting the caller ( since we knew our cards were cancelled promptly ) and Knowing we should never give out our pin# we ended the call.

Next day we called the credit card fraud line and shared our story with them.

There are tracking devices that can locate lost keys or lost luggage in another state.  From the time we left our car with no purse on our shoulder, it took the thief less than ten minutes to break the car window grab the purse that was hidden away & disappear. If we had a tracking device in the purse the police would have been able to locate our stolen property.

With new GPS tools it would be possible to track a stolen purse or a wallet.

Trakdot, Waldo and Tile Slim available for  tracking a lost luggage or a wallet are already in the market and the cost is somewhere from $30-$50.

Maybe investing in one would be a good idea.👍

 

Honeydew smoothie

So a perfect time for a cold sweet smoothie. We usually make one when we buy a honeydew that is not sweet or just not flavorful, but this one was sweet as honey, so no need for honey or maple syrup.

Not only tart cherries are beautiful, and great in a pie, they are also a great drink to have before a workout. Drinking the juice twice a day for at least seven days before a big race or event can help to ease the pain, and shortens the recovery time.

It also can help with diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, and insomnia. It can also increase urine production, and helps with digestion.

We love mozzarella on our salad or on top of a heaping hot pasta dish, but for breakfast it is light & something fresh.

adding berries and walnuts just adds to this nutritious, easy to make breakfast. We all know about the benefits of berries eating walnuts help with lowering blood pressure, inflammation, helps with weight loss, and supports good brain function.

Santa Fe Indian Market

Santa Fe Plaza

Held on August 17&18 on the Plaza, it is one of the most interesting and family friendly places to visit.

The largest and the most prestigious Native American fine art show in the world, every year it attracts more than hundreds of artists-and more than 150,000 visitors. During the show artists display their hand made jewelry, sculptures, and paintings as tourists and locals enjoy the traditional Native American cuisine from the nearby market.

The most glamorous of all the events, the fine Art Gala & Auction gives visitors the chance to bid on some of the most unique pieces of the market. And during the market there is dance and music performances, even a Native American clothing Contest, where contestants model their finest traditional attire.

August is Santa Fe’s peak season and for good reason. Average high temperatures are in the mid-80s, with few afternoon showers and cooler nights.

Tidying up

Linen closet, closets, kitchen pantry, kitchen cabinets, book shelves, the garage…..

It all starts when we start going through all the paper, art work, school projects, summer camp crafts, that we have collected for months and they have no longer a shelf space to live on.

Healthy Brain diet, for Kids

We need to Avoid food that contain artificial sweeteners, foods that contain high amounts of sugar, saturated fat or caffeine.

Processed foods like deli meat have been linked to triggering ADHD symptoms in children. Instead choose foods that contain antioxidants, choline, omega-3 fatty acids, and complex carbohydrates that boost brain health.

To add Protein to a healthy diet :

beans, almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, multi grain cereal. Eggs, milk, goat cheese, and Greek yogurt.

Fish for omega 3 & fatty acid

Salmon, mackerel, fresh tuna, trout, sardines, herring.

Making tuna wraps, sandwiches and pasta salads for kids lunches is a great way to add good fat to their diet.

For salads, sandwiches, and wraps use Green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale. These greens are full of folate and vitamins .
