It has been a few weeks, Since I have consciously tried to drink more water. I have realized that by drinking more water I can accomplish more, and feel better. I had noticed more and more in the mornings I woke up with sore muscles, and headaches. I do suffer from migraines, but my headaches were happening more often.
I did some research and realized I don’t drink enough water during the day and dehydration can cause achy muscles, and headaches. Knowing what is causing my problem I had to start drinking more water, and for me that was a difficult adjustment to make. I have never enjoyed drinking water, and I have always depended on deluding fruit juice, drink coffee, or Iced tea when I was thirsty. So I started thinking of ways I could add flavor, naturally to plain water, and hoping, better flavor would encourage me to drink more water, as I exercise, swim, Work in the garden, and just do my daily chores.
I hope this video will be a nice easy guide to encourage you to drink more water, and enjoy a more productive day. I have already started feeling better, and that is a very good sign.☺️
I use a combination of herbs fruits or vegetables to add flavor to my water. Before I leave my house I take my Yeti travel mug add ice, water, and a combination of herbs and maybe a slice of lemon or another citrus fruit like tangerine, and I am ready to start my day💪🏻☺️
It is easy just to brew a dark cup of tea, and before drinking it plain, add more flavor to it. Not just flavor, but also ingredients that can calm your stomach, calm your nerves and help you have a better day. I usually have a few things in the pantry, and depending on how I feel, I add to my hot tea : ginger, lemon (dry lemon) mint, honey, and sometimes crushed cardamom seeds for more flavor. Crystallized ginger slowly melts in hot tea and adds more antioxidants, it is anti inflammatory , eases headaches & migraines, and lowers blood pressure. Adding lemon to your tea, can boost your immune system and increase your vitamin C intake. Honey is great for soothing a sore throat, and sweetening your tea naturally. Adding mint to hot tea reduces headaches, Improves immune system, and helps digestive system. And my favorite candied orange slices, add natural sweetness, wonderful flavor, and vitamin C. Today, take a few minutes, and treat yourself to a hot cup of tea, any way you like It ☺️
Ten years ago my parents gave me a fig tree to plant in the back yard. It nearly died one year and bounced back, and grew to a 10 feet tree. I guess it needed time, getting used to the garden, and making friendships with the surrounding trees such as the dogwood, and the parade of squirrels, and birds, and the families of cardinals flying over, and landing on its branches.
Every year or so my fig tree, decides to offer me a few figs, and my goodness they are big, beautiful, and not too sweet. I get busy making salads, fig and peanut butter sandwiches, appetizers, and cook a few to top ice cream and pancakes. A few days ago I picked a few for a quick salad. Feta cheese and glazed balsamic. It was beautiful and delicious. Thank you my beautiful fig tree👩🏻🍳😘
Even rain didn’t stop me from picking these beauties 👩🏻🌾
Just to mention a few benefits of figs, beside being delicious : high in fiber, and antioxidants, high calcium helps with strong bones, keeping a healthy blood pressure and weight control. One interesting fact, fig trees have natural latex which some people might be allergic to.

To bake healthy and delicious goodies sometimes can be time consuming, expensive, and frustrating. I am not shy to say I don’t enjoy spending hours baking, and waiting for anything to rise for 8hours. But I love trying new recipes, and sharing them with my family, and watching them enjoy my experiments.
Every now and then when I come across a recipe that is delicious and practical, I am beyond happy. In this case fruit bars, that are delicious to pair with tea or coffee, even top them with ice cream, and just perfect to wrap in wax paper as a thoughtful gift for a friend, teacher or the next door neighbor.
This recipe is super easy to prepare, bake, and by changing the fruit layer, you can drastically change the flavor for the next batch. I made these bars to use up my leftover cranberry sauce, and it came out absolutely delicious.
You will need👩🏻🍳.
1 cup butter room temperature 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt. Zest of an orange ( 1/2 tsp vanilla or almond extract ) 3 cups all purpose flour 2 1/2 cup cranberry sauce, apricot or cherry jam 1/2 cup almonds, or walnuts
Preheat the oven 375° bake for 40-45 using a 9×13 baking dish. Dough will be soft and buttery, using a rolling pin or your hands lay enough dough to cover the bottom of the pan about 1/4 inch thickness, a layer of jam, and a layer of nuts. Cover with the rest of the dough. Bake until slightly golden.
Layer of apricot jam, and a layer of toasted almondsCranberry sauce & walnuts, in squares.
I am planning to bake some with raspberry jam and a layer of shaved semisweet Ghirardelli chocolate. Yummy 👍can’t wait😋
My most favorite meal of the day is breakfast. I enjoy traveling mostly for the fact, that I get the chance to try something new and special from the region. Some what like, the scene in the movie “ My Cousin Vinny” when they ordered grits for the first time with their breakfast. Who knew it was corn!!??
German pancake
And when I am home, I am always ready to try new recipes, like the German pancake, that actually looks like a giant pastry. Super easy to make, and delicious. The most important fact about making them, is that you pour the batter in one dish and bake it. There is no waiting and pouring individual pancakes for hours. And that is one main reason this pancake is a great breakfast for big family get togethers, and easy to make for special days like Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.
You will need:👩🏻🍳
6 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 Tablespoons butter
A 9X13 baking dish. Preheat the oven at 425°, bake for 27-30 minutes.

These little guys are so good for us, and with a little help can become everyone’s favorite vegetable. It is not a age thing, it just how you take the smell and the texture of these cute round cabbage looking vegetables.
A fall vegetable, Brussels sprouts are from the cabbage family and packed with nutrients. As I have learned from years of preparing them, I believe fresh ones taste much better than frozen ones. I use salt and cheese to sautéed them and serve them immediately or sautéed them with glazed balsamic vinegar.
Fresh Brussels sprouts
Rich in antioxidants High in fiber Packed with vitamin C & K Reduce inflammation Regulates blood sugar

Who doesn’t like to snack? When taking a refuge at home from the summer heat, it is easy to wonder around the kitchen looking for snacks. I am fan of snacking, and I can spend hours creating cheese trays or snack trays. I mix the chips with the healthy nuts and berries, and balance the bland with salty and spicy. Healthy snacks is what I am all about. Being a vegetarian most of my life my family gets bored with my healthy collection of berries, and nuts, so I give them a break by making smoothies on hot summer afternoons.
With smoothies everything goes. What you add for sweetness is a major part of keeping it healthy. To make smoothies sweet I often add honey, maple syrup, nutella and peanut butter. To make the mix smooth for drinking I add vanilla or chocolate soy, orange juice, or milk. Some cinnamon, vanilla extract with few drops of lemon juice for extra flavor.
Stay cool, and fill the gaps with yummy snacks.😘
Smoothie recipe:
Two bananas
1/2 mango
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup blueberries (or other berries)
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1cup OJ
1 Tsp Nutella
1Tsp of Honey for sweetness add as needed

Do you care a little too much about coffee? Do the terms "specialty coffee" and "single origin" mean more to you than how much coffee costs? Do you brew your coffee by grams per liter rather than by scoops per cup? If so, then you're a weird coffee person.
