We have a special love toward the Safari chair. Growing up with a pair in our family room their design evolution through the years has always caught our attention.

 The structure of our Safari chairs intrigued us. They looked different from other soft chairs in the house that were layered in soft pillows. This chair had many open spaces within its frame that encourage us to follow the lines and be mesmerized by its unique design.

It was a beautiful combination of smooth wood and beautiful rich brown leather with heavy stitching at every angle.

Safari chair began its common life by Kaare Klint in 1933. In his trip to Africa he was inspired by chairs used by Americans and Britons that were similar in design to the Roorkhee chair. Named after the headquarters of the Indian Army Corps of Engineers in Roorkhee, India. This chair was lightweight at about 10 lbs., and was easy to take apart and assemble back.

Today the Safari Chair comes in varieties of colors, textures, frames, and prices.

Picture books for young children learning to read are the best way to learn about art. 

  • Books by Eric Carle’s Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? 
  • Leo Lionni’s A Color of his Own, a story of a chameleon and the colors he absorbs as he moves around

With art Children can find an expressive outlet. Fresh & canned food for meals and snacking

We will need our nutritious Meals to stay active and happy when bad weather leaves us in the dark and no access to stores or restaurants.

Dry fruits paired with varieties of nuts, and nut butters with chutneys or jams and nutritious whole grain crackers can provide us with protein and good variety of tastes.

Also canned tuna, chicken, salmon, can be paired with lettuce, apples, grapes for a fresh and delicious salads. Don’t forget the manual can opener. If you don’t like missing your vegetables add cans of grilled eggplant, peppers and zucchini to your pantry. Shelf stable milk, breakfast cereals, are also great for snacking.

Lets not forget candles and matches .

Three hours before a game or practice snacks like breads, cereals, pasta, fruits, grains, juices, yogurt, milk and sports drinks fuel the muscles and are good to eat . Before a game or practice children should eat mainly carbs.

Stay away from fatty food. It’s best to save burgers, fries or chicken strips for after the game, since Proteins and fats can make your child feel lethargic. 

List of yummy snacks per game or practice:

1- yogurt drinks 

2- banana & peanut butter ( if no one had peanut allergies)

3- fruits : grapes, bananas, apples ( apples are mess free)

4-  sport drinks ( hot temp)

5- cereal 

6- pasta ( cold salad )

7- bread ( we like breakfast breads loaded with cranberries , dates, raisins)

They are playful, fun, and curious

They are cute, funny, give us delicious milk, and can clear a land in minutes.

Few facts about these adorable creatures.

1- they have many personality traits:

Loving, loyal and incredibly demanding. Sweet, hardworking and easy to train. Very social, curious, gentle, independent and intelligent animals. They will recognize your voice and respond to you, as well as announce any visitors around your property.

2- They need company, and that wouldn’t be a human.

3- They have a good appetite, and are very clean eaters. So a sufficient feed budget and the space to store it.

4- Goats are very active. They jump over and crawl under any fence, and they don’t like wet places. They will avoid getting wet by any means.

Like any pets, goats need attention. Need a large space to roam and need the company of other goats. They get along with other animals, and pets and are great with children. Before getting goats remember they have distinct personalities, so a study and research period is for your own benefit.

Why does it look so good ? The idea is old, but it somehow looks different. Is it because we are tired of the grays and the neutrals, or is it because we have a billion choices and much easier way to put up and strip away a wall paper?

Literary in minutes we can change a room with covering one wall in colors, patterns, and textures.

We don’t have to use wallpaper to just cover walls. We can cover a door, shelves in the pantry, create a window border, cover a bench, lamp shades, even stairs.

Our wallpaper choices begin with:

Big or small as far as color & pattern:

Depends on what you already have in the room, and the size of the furniture. To make a room seem larger and still cozy, go with light colors. To make a bold statement and add a bit of drama, go with bold color.

Iceland – Blue Lagoon

Seasonal eating is so much healthier for us. Not only we notice craving for seasonal fruits and vegetables, but we tend to use them more as ingredients for our meals.

Potatoes, parsnips, sweet potatoes,  carrots, broccoli, brussels sprouts, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, cabbage, winter squash, sweet chard, turnips, mushrooms just a small list of vegetables soon in season, and full of flavor if purchased from local vendors.

Visit your local farmer’s markets for the freshes seasonal vegetables

To feed our family we hear less complaines if vegetables are roasted.

We follow these steps:

1- cut the veggies

2- preheat the oven 425°

3- olive oil

4- salt & pepper

5- don’t crowd them

to get evetything crisp and kid friendly roast these veggies together:

zucchini, summer squash, bell peppers, 10 to 20 minutes

asparagus, green beans, 10 to 20 minutes

broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, 15 to 25 minutes

beets, potatoes, carrots together for , 30 to 45 minutes.

butternut squash, acorn squash, 20 to 60 minutes.

Now just hoping for, cooler more fallish weather 🍁
